What Blog!?

Well, the last time I blogged was when I was 30 weeks pregnant! So that was back in July and boy has the Wright household changed since then! Let me catch you all up! Baby Braden was born August 22, 2008 and has been such a blessing to Mike and I. We are thankful everyday for him!

He was born a little early, but was a healthy 7lbs 4oz. He arrived at 1:22am. He is now 7 1/2 months. As all of you other mom's know, the first 4 or 5 months was just plain work! Enjoyable work, but work nonetheless! Now that Braden is a little older, he has such a personality and is so fun to just watch! I absolutely LOVE having a boy!! He is on solid foods now (baby food) and started crawling about a week ago! He is just on the go now, crawling everywhere. We've enjoyed our first holidays with Braden. His grandparents spoil him with lots of love and of course gifts at every holiday imaginable. Mike and I even went on our first vacation alone in March, with our wonderful friends Cody and Devon. The trip wasn't planned to be without Braden, but he had an earache and mom was too scared to put him on a plane. So, he spent some quality time with the grandparents for a week...and really wore them out.

Since I have been such a bad blogger, please feel free to check out the past 7 months of adventures via pictures at: http://picasaweb.google.com/mikeandkatiewright
Thanks to all my friends who got me back in the Blogging mood!

30 Week Checkup

Mike and I went on July 3rd for our 30 week check up at the Doctor's. About a month ago, I discovered I had gestational diabetes. So this check up was to make sure the diabetes was under control and my doctor wanted to do an ultrasound to make sure everything was going well with the baby. I am happy to report the diabetes is very much under control and all of the extra fluid around the baby that was caused by the diabetes had pretty much gone away. Braden is doing very well. He's 3 lbs 14 oz (as of July 3rd), which is in the 44th percentile. Take a look at his latest ultrasound picture. After the doctor's appointment, Mike and I spent the Fourth of July with our friends, Clint and Angela. We were on the lake most of the day and then went back to Clint and Angela's for food and fireworks. It was a great week!

Baby Wright

Mike and I found out in early January we were expecting a new addition to our family. Since then we've been really excited. Our first Dr's visit was on January 22nd where we got the real confirmation we were definitely having a baby!
Although I would have loved to have surprised my family with the big news in a super creative way, but the minute I saw my mom I just had to show her the first ultrasound picture. So, it was just a plain and simple (but great!) announcement. I did have to wait to tell my Dad since he was busy with work for several weeks. But, I finally got to tell him the big news on January 27th, when we were celebrating my mom's birthday. I brought him a little gift bag with the ultrasound picture enclosed. Of course, he had no clue what he was. He thought it was my throat or something! Since then, every Dr's visit has went very well. We've heard the heartbeat everytime, it's been strong and loud each time! We've had fun betting on what we thought we'd be having. Shopping for the little one has also been very fun for me! We've also been working with all the animals to TRY to get them to behave better and calm down a bit before the baby arrives. For those of you that know our Beagle, Calvin, this will be quite an adjustment for him! He thinks he's our little baby. I joke with Mike I'm going to be rocking a baby in one arm and Calvin in the other. ;) Tilly is a bit more low maintenance and I think she'll be fine with the baby. The cats should be ok too; they don't usually cause too much trouble!
More recently, on April 25th, Mike and I went to the Dr. for my 20-week check-up. We were excited to find out we're expecting a baby BOY! So far everything still looks healthy and so we're very happy and feel very fortunate!

We planned a fun activity so that our family could guess if was a boy or girl after our appointment. I made cupcakes and iced them blue and pink. We had my mom, dad, aunt, and mother-in-law come over and pick a cupcake (blue for boy and pink for girl). Once they guess we sat down and watched the ultrasound on DVD. About half way through, the Dr typed "It's a Boy!!!". So, that is how our family found out. I've posted a picture of this.

Me, my mom, aunt, and mother-in-law immediately hit the mall to ensure little Baby Wright will be a well dressed little boy! I've also posted a picture of this.

Now, Mike and I are working on the baby's room. We have all the furniture but are working on a theme and decorations. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we'll have our ideas better organized and can start working on the room!

Til next time!
